At first glance this 7.5 inch white sucker by Craig
Kimmel looks rather comical. I got the idea to carve this decoy, with
feeding mouth, from antique sucker decoys that I see with the mouth somewhat
extended. The decoy is carved from tupelo gum and has copper fins. We had
a sucker this size in one of our reference aquariums, which I caught in
the White River. Though it looks
odd, this is actually how these interesting fish appear when they feed.
