Channel Catfish wooden fish spearing decoy hand carved by Blaine Kimmel.

This channel cat decoy is what is called a "floater", meaning that there is a line tie on both the top and the bottom of the decoy.  Unlike the "sinkers" floaters are suspended in the water with a weight tied on them as an anchor.  The decoy relies on the water for the most part for its movement.  A floater might be used in conjunction with a sinker decoy for extra attractant.  This decoy was awarded the 1992 best of show at the world championship. Interestingly, this decoy was one of the first fish decoys carved by Blaine.
